This £35 million project provided accommodation for 1,000 students and included buildings for two other colleges. It was completed on time and within budget.
Because some buildings can be seen from Durham Cathedral, two of the roofs are green to enable them to merge unobtrusively into the background.
There are five new halls of residence, from two to four storeys, and new buildings incorporating sports, social and collegiate facilities. There is a six-person flat on each floor, with individual ensuite rooms and a large shared kitchen.
