Highways Depot
Kettering
This depot, which was designed for Northamptonshire County Council, is just off the A14 to the south of Kettering. It comprises offices, garaging space for a fleet of highways vehicles, and a large salt barn which holds hundreds of tons of salt for use on roads in the winter.
Because of the corrosive effect of salt on metal, the salt barn is constructed mainly from timber.
