The 280-place mixed day school is surrounded by mature trees and extensive playing fields, away from busy town centre traffic. The attractive and innovative two-storey building has an exposed framework and a floating curved roof.
The new school was designed to be extremely cost-effective, with future flexibility built in. It is also extremely safe, with underfloor heating and a full sprinkler system throughout. The 34,000 square feet building has fourteen classrooms and a large multi-purpose hall. There is provision for children with special needs, and for those with disabilities.
The building won a Commendation in the RIBA East Midlands Awards.
