Community Performing Arts Centre
With all the performing arts provided for, this building at Latimer Arts College in Northamptonshire has been designed with sustainability in mind. All materials used are robust, providing longevity and low maintenance. A large overhang gives solar protection, reduces weathering to the walls, and discourages youngsters from climbing onto the roof.
The external fabric of the centre is highly insulated and that, in combination with an efficient floor plan, keeps heating and cooling requirements to a minimum. The entrance foyer floor is covered with barrier matting, to reduce the ingress of dirt and keep cleaning costs low.
