Leather Conservation Centre
The University of Northampton
This unique centre provides a specialist working environment for the handling and treatment of damaged or ageing leather products, and forms the cornerstone of the university's research programme. It enjoys a world-wide reputation.
Facilities include a conservation workshop, a laboratory, secure store rooms, and offices.
The building features a 3.5m high north facing glass frontage and roof-lights which prevent direct sunlight damaging precious leather objects. All specialist areas are environmentally controlled to maintain temperature levels and relative humidity.
