Boughton House – Renovation of Stable Block
GSSArchitecture were appointed by Boughton House in Northamptonshire to renovate the Grade I Listed Stable Block, which was originally designed by the 1st Duke of Montagu in the very early 18th century.
The scheme included improvements to the existing function rooms, which are now available for weddings, conferences, meetings and lectures. The finishes were upgraded, whilst retaining the original fabric of the 18th century building. The project also created new toilets, improved access and extended the catering facilities.
GSSArchitecture have worked with Boughton House since the 1970’s, and previous work has included the careful repair to this Stable Block following subsidence and extensive dry rot.
This is part of Boughton Estates’ programme of making the house more available to the public in general, and GSSArchitecture were pleased to work with them on this important historic building.
