Bridlington and District Hospital – Main Entrance Remodelling
Bridlington and District Hospital is a 98-bed hospital in the seaside town of Bridlington, offering a range of consultant led services in a friendly and caring environment. The hospital is run by Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust who took the view that improvements should be considered to the main entrance.
GSSArchitecture were appointed to undertake a feasibility study in the first instance and produced designs and graphics for consultation purposes. The scope of work included improvements around the main entrance so that it became readily identifiable on arrival at the hospital, as well as improving the overall arrival experience by improving the main reception, WRVS shop and associated facilities.
In addition, the scheme included an option for introducing a new community pharmacy adjacent to the main reception, along with relocation of the main hospital pharmacy, to rationalise the pharmaceutical provision across the site. The 3D image to the left shows the proposed layout modifications to the building.
