GSSArchitecture are delighted to announce that planning has been achieved for the South Central Institute of Technology (SCIoT) at the Bletchley Campus of Milton Keynes College.
The scheme involves extensive redevelopment and extension of The Andrew Peck Building which will specialise in delivering technical and digital education, focusing on the specific skills required in the local area, and collaborating with business partners, with the aim of providing employers with a technically skilled workforce and students with a clear route to technical employment. By bridging skills gaps, the SCIoT will help to drive growth and widen opportunity.
The extremely positive comments made by members across the Council’s committee ahead of the unanimous vote to grant planning permission highlight the importance of the new facility and the opportunities it will provide.
GSS are looking forward to transforming the building into an exciting and modern education destination that will attract learners and improve the existing Campus. The building will accommodate specialist learning areas and agile working zones along with social areas, which will be accessible to the public, such as the cafe and events hub. The building will be highly accessible encouraging aspiration to higher levels of attainment for all ages and community involvement.
The highly sustainable design has a strong emphasis on supporting the health and wellbeing of all building users, delivering a truly unique facility that leads the way for educational schemes.
Anna McTaggart, Partner and Project Lead at GSSArchitecture said: “It has been a great team effort to get to this point, working with the Council and the College, Tetra Tech, Project Management Solutions, Lockhart Garratt, Panda Construction & Engineering Services, Solution Consulting Engineers Ltd, Scott White & Hookins and Gleeds. Thanks to this close collaboration we are delighted that planning has been granted for the SCIoT Bletchley. This is the largest of three SCIoTprojects that the College is delivering with Activate Learning at Bletchley, Oxford and Reading and we look forward to seeing the projects progress further in the coming months.”
GSS are delighted to be working as Architect and Lead Consultant on this scheme, following the completion of the Reading South Central Institute of Technology which opened its doors in October 2021.
