Planning Approved for Rugby School’s Whitelaw Boarding House Refurbishment

GSSArchitecture are delighted to confirm that planning permission has been granted for the refurbishment and remodelling of a Grade II listed boarding house at Rugby School.

Whitelaw House is one of the oldest and largest boarding houses at the school, with part of the accommodation dating back to the early 19th Century. Works to the site will include an extension within an existing courtyard, as well as internal refurbishments, both of which are intended to make the boarding house a more suitable space for the requirements of the school today.

Part of the eight-phase refurbishment of the existing boarding facilities, this project follows on from the successful completion of the School’s first purpose-built boarding house since 1938, completed in early 2019, where GSSArchitecture worked as Architects, Lead Consultants and Principal Designers.
